Tying the Knot 2

For us, it is tradition that the bride and groom each paint a story on our bodies that connects us. My greatest emotion is seeing Cally in this shadow realm, a light beacon, a last hope in a grim world. she was the sun to me when there was no more light in the galaxy. as such, that is the memory she chose to paint on her. for Cally it was the feeling of loss and emptiness when she arrived in the hospital, to then see me come back in a wave of blue fire, for her, and only for her. so that is why, I paint the Phoenix on myself. The hardest part about this ritual is that it has to be done with no visual aids, therefore it is common to practice weeks before the actual day of the marriage. If only I could show you the elaborate body paintings of my forefathers, in their eyes I must be but a child drawing a crude painting...but a happy child...
