As a way of honoring Carl and Darrell for helping her and her father, Caedmon literally deletes the only evidence available linking either of them to the Thieves Guild, wiping the slate clean. However, she then proceeds to slam the brakes on her involvement with the Thieves Guild, and even goes as far as severing the connection entirely, informing both Carl and Darrell that if they screw up, she will arrest them. Though her words seem harsh and straightforward, both Carl and Darrell recognize there is much being said in between the lines.
