Valentine "Val" Cardenas was born in Pasadena, Texas. The product of unimaginative parents she was born on Feb. 14th, thus named Valentine. Her father, when around worked in the refineries in the surrounding area. While not providing much in the way of financial support he did instill a love of music in Val and taught her to play the guitar and piano at a young age.
