Mediaeval vampire queen. Based on Erszebet Bathory, the legendary countess who according to myth slaughtered over 600 women in order to bathe in their blood, which she had been led to believe would preserve her youth. Whether this is true is now the subject of some debate. Many say that Erszebet, as the ruler over a highly important strategic position in Transylvania, was the victim of the machinations of men envious of her position and wishing to retain the patriarchal status quo. Whichever is the truth, this is my tribute to a fascinating historical figure. Enjoy.
