It was an early Monday afternoon and Venus was nearly all by herself on the basketball court. There was just one other person at the other end of the court shooting hoops. She hesitated briefly before approaching and asking if he'd be interested in one-on-one game. He said yes, and they agreed on basic rules and the duration of the game. First one to score 10 times wins. Before they started, he asked Venus if she'd be up for a bet; loser treats winner to a can of soda. Venus accepted the bet and they started the game. Venus had the first possession, and she scored going up 1-0. Then it was his turn, and it was obvious that he was just toying with her. He would allow Venus to have decent shots at scoring, but would then easily dominate on his possession. When it was time for his match ball with score being 9-2, he asked Venus if she wanted to play the game to the end as agreed, or have a sudden death tiebreaker with her possession. She chose the latter. He was easily able to fend off her attempts to drive to the basket. She then decided to try a mid range shot instead. As he was covering her very closely, she decided to bump him with her butt to distract him and perhaps slightly push him off-balance in order to create room to take a shot. When she bumped him, she heard a grunt and felt something. Right away she realized what she had felt, and she got both ashamed, impressed and excited. Venus got so distracted that she nearly forgot to take the shot while he tumbled down. She did manage to get the shot away, though. Ball hit the rim, bouncing up before going through the hoop for the winning score. Venus sheepishly walked up to him to help him get back on his feet, apologizing for the cheap shot. He told her that it was a fair play, and the bet was still good.
