Any similarities are more or less fully intentional *lol* If anybody knows the old adventure game "Maniac Mansion" these are the two characters Razor & Jeff who I kind of took a basic to create Amy & Nick. On the other hand they are stereotypes anyway: redhaired punkband singer & blonde surfer dude. Whatever... now you know :-D?
